Recently, I had lunch with a local funeral director. When it was proposed, I instantly began dreading this meeting with my own mortality, but, once we sat down and began chatting, I quickly realized we had a lot in common – him being Death and me being Taxes. We both want to help our clients through careful planning. The big difference between us is that you have to die to reap the benefits of the funeral director’s advice, while I let you live. Working with me is going to cost you a few dollars in taxes, but you will be alive to spend whatever is left.
As I explained to Death’s representative, tax planning is one of my specialties. With proper tax-planning, you can save money year after year. You might even save enough to afford a really great funeral, but, unfortunately, you won’t be around to enjoy it.
